And were off!

Tomorrow morning bright and early we leave to catch our 7:00 am flight for Mississippi! Many of you might have not known that we were going to Mississippi, in fact we have been planning this trip for about a year now, the main reason why we are going is for Jamie's younger brothers graduation. I have refrained from talking about it on here because he doesn't know we are coming. I don't really think he reads our blog, but I figured just to be safe I wouldn't mention anything, but now since we are leaving tomorrow and he will see us, I guess it is not a secret anymore! Jamie is very, I mean VERY excited to go home, see family friends and eat what he calls "real" food. Jamie has not been back to Mississippi for almost three years now, and I have never been there, so this trip is long over due. I will make sure to take lots of pictures and have a big update when we come home from our two week trip.

Until then keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we travel, also for me as I am beginning to get very nervous ( I get very nervous about new places, cultures, and even more the family that I have not met) Funny thing is that I love the learn about people and culture and what to travel the world, I just get nervous when it come to actually going... My mom would say that is the story of my life with EVERYTHING!
Any until next time....

My friend Emilee had this video posted on her blog. It is truely amazing. I have been thinking a lot lately about many different things in my life, and have just felt very uneasy. This message from Elder Busche was just what I needed to hear.

Relationships

Last night Jamie and I attended an amazing fireside on relationships. Our friends in alpine, the colvins. told us about the fireside, and we were excited to go. The speaker was Barbra Jones, she is a pretty famous author and public speaker that has traveled all over the world. She had the most amazing life story from being a classical ballerina, to sharing very openly about a 12 year abusive marriage and having guns put to her head many of times. She eventually remarried, after her first husband committed suicide after put a gun to her head for the last time. She then became the women she is today and shared her wisdom on relationships. She uses mostly humor in her talks and had us all on the floor laughing. Jamie and I talked for awhile afterwards about what we learned and where we can improve in our relationship. I think ONE of the things I learned from the fireside was on the subject of humor. Barbra explained that when you want to teach someone you infuse humor in what you are teaching and by doing this, you rein gage the persons mind and then teach them some more, than more humor, then teach. You continue with this process and those being taught will learn so much more. This is especially true with children and really made me think about how I would like to really practice that with my children. Instead of being so serious, teach through humor.

Over all the whole fireside was amazing and I am really glad that Jamie and I had the opportunity to go

School is over!!!! YEAH!! Wednesday was the last day of finals and I am so glad to be done for a while. Now the countdown begins for our big trip in May, and we can hardly wait!! Jamie and I have also officially increased our hours at work, and are happy to have more money coming in.

That all for now

Love Stephanie and Jamie

The gift of Conference

What an amazing conference weekend it was! I always enjoy conference, but I am not usually the type that get all excited like a week before, however this time I was. I am so thankful for all the amazing talks and inspiration that was given. Jamie and I has some very specific prayers answered, and are very thankful for prophets and apostles who listen to the guidence from the holy ghost and choose just the right topics. I as well recieved some insight on things that I hadnt exactly planed on, but I am very thankful for. I enjoyed every talk but one of my favorites was by elder Steven E Snow. It was just what I needed to hear at this time.

Jamie and I received for our spare bedroom a new queen size bed! For those who didnt know we were given when we first moved a small twin sized bed that we were thankful to have, but we always felt bad when people came to visit, and couldnt exactly sleep great on such a small bed. So when our neighbors came and asked if we wanted this almost brand new queen sized mattress, I was very excited! Now I feel better having people come to stay the night!

Well I cant think of anything else real new, but I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I think Utah is Confused

One of my biggest issues with Utah is the weather! It can never make up its mind here! Last week we enjoyed several days of 70 degree weather. Everyone pulled out the spring clothes and the sun was amazing, then all of the sudden Sunday night comes the cold. And today it is snowing and freezing out side. I don't mind the cold per say, I just cant stand going back and forth, either leave it winter or lets move on to spring Utah!!!

The semester is finally winding down. Only about two more weeks until finals and then we are done! Well for the a couple months at least! Of course right about now I have about 10-12 things due in the next couple weeks, so I am far from out of the woods with this semester.

I am afraid that our poor car is going to die soon. It has started to make really weird noises that past week, I fear that it will just stop working. So Jamie and I might go look for a new car, probably one that will last longer, and more suitable for when we have kids and what not. Our current car has been a great one thus far, it really was a great starter car, especially since when we bought it funds were really tight. It has been great not having a car payment the last year, but we will have to do what we need to.

Jamie had a great opportunity to use his Portuguese yesterday. In the Student Honor Association office, which Jamie works in, there is a sweet lady named Jennie, who is over all of SHA. Any way her son is going through a hard time right now, and needed a letter translated for him. Jamie was very willing to help this guy out. It was a great relief to the man and he really appreciated Jamie's help. Jamie was happy to help him, but I also think it helped him realize that he is going in the right direction with his major. He loves the language. I am so proud of him and all that he has accomplished as of late. It had been a rough couple of years trying with all his might to go one way, but being pushed down over and over again. Now he is in the right place and just excels at it.

Not much else is new with us, just working hard both with school and a job, and trying to enjoy the journey. I wish I had more news, but I hope all is well
